Agilent, Spirent Join CSR, Moto in EGPS Forum
U.K. Wireless tech supplier CSR today announced that Agilent Technologies and Spirent Communications are joining CSR and Motorola in the EGPS Forum, an open industry forum for evaluating and fostering enhanced GPS (EGPS) technologies. Working with CSR, Agilent and Spirent have created a single system that can simulate both GPS and cellular signals, CSR said.

Current energy devices available in the market such as fuel cells, batteries and solar cells are limited by their low energy and power densities for portable applications. While the theoretical energy densities of most fuel cells exceed that of batteries, practical achievable energy and power densities of portable fuel cells are limited by the inactive components such as gas diffusion layer, current collectors, pumps and valves. Traditional planar fuel cells, in particular, also suffer from limited 3-point contact between catalyst, electrolyte and the fuel as well as high IR losses from contacts and electrolyte. Motorola is developing an alternative fuel cell design based on a three dimensional membrane electrode assembly, fabricated by a combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches. Massively parallel array of 3-D micro fuel cells have been fabricated using this novel approach. The advantages of this design include improved surface area, reduced IR losses while keeping the footprint of the fuel cell small to enable portable applications. WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Qualcomm Inc. led communications-equipment makers in early Wednesday trades, while Sprint Nextel Corp. fell nearly 2% in the phone group. Qualcomm gained 1.6%. Other notable movers included Vodafone Group plc , down 1.1%; LM Ericsson Phone Co. , off 2.2%; and Motorola Inc. , which dropped 2.7%.
